AJC 5.5(Our strategies)
AJC has created AJC 5.5, which serves as a mid-term strategic plan that includes “five goals, five transpormation pathways with five emerging economies as enablers” looking toward 2030.
AJC 5.5 Vision

To be a regional catalyst and bridge builder for an inclusive, sustainable, and people-centred ASEAN-Japan through heart-to-heart partnership, co-creation, and innovation that leave no one behind.
Five Goals
Five Transformative Pathways
These pathways act as cross-cutting strategies that connect and operationalize all Five Goals.
- Empower People and Communities – Invest in human capacity and inclusive entrepreneurship.
- Co-Create a Sustainable and Digitally Connected Future – Align green transition and digital innovation to drive shared growth.
- Strengthen Regional Solidarity and Resilience – Enhance collective preparedness and trust-based supply chains.
- Evidence and Innovation for Policy Action – Use data, research, and innovation to inform policy and measure impact.
- Knowledge Diplomacy and Strategic Visibility – Translate learning into influence through knowledge exchange and thought leadership.
Five Emerging Economies as Enablers
Each enabler represents a key economic domain where ASEAN and Japan can jointly innovate and scale impact. Together, they form an integrated ecosystem of action — linking people, technology, nature, and trust to ensure that empathy and evidence guide collective progress toward a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable Indo-Pacific.
- Digital Economy – Advance inclusive connectivity and AI ethics under ASEAN Digital Economic Framework (DEFA) and Data Free Flow with Trust (DFFT).
- Green and Blue Economy – Link decarbonisation and sustainable ocean governance through Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) and ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP).
- Creative Economy – Empower youth and women in cultural and digital innovation.
- Nature-Positive Economy through Nature-Based Solutions – Align prosperity with planetary health.
- Wellness Economy – Promote wellbeing and health-linked industries for aging and active societies.
