The ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC), together with the Directorate General of National Export Development, Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, and JETRO Jakarta, will organize the seminar “The Utilization of FTAs for Indonesia and Japan Trade Promotion: Unlocking Trade Opportunities for Manufacturing through FTAs” on Thursday, 15 October 2026, in conjunction with Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026.
The seminar will bring together government representatives, trade experts, industry stakeholders, and companies from Indonesia and Japan to explore how Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) can be more effectively utilized to support bilateral trade and business expansion.
With the increasing importance of IJEPA, AJCEP, and RCEP in facilitating trade between Indonesia and Japan, the programme will provide participants with both strategic perspectives and practical guidance on FTA utilization. Discussions will cover current trends in Indonesia–Japan trade, opportunities arising from existing FTAs, and industry perspectives on how companies can better benefit from preferential trade arrangements.
The afternoon workshop will offer practical guidance on Certificate of Origin (CoO) applications, Rules of Origin (RoO), and tariff schedules, as well as insights into Japanese market trends, buyer expectations, quality and standard requirements, and potential products for the Japanese market.
Companies, particularly export-oriented MSMEs and businesses interested in expanding trade between Indonesia and Japan, are warmly invited to participate and take advantage of this opportunity to deepen their understanding of FTAs, gain practical knowledge, and explore potential business opportunities.
