The ASEAN-Japan Centre will host a student-led workshop and international exchange event as part of ASEAN-Japan Young Bridge Builders (AJYBB), a platform that brings together young people from ASEAN countries and Japan. This event will broaden the scope of exchange beyond ASEAN and Japan by welcoming participants from the ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Youth Retreat, offering an opportunity to explore shared challenges from an ASEAN+3 perspective.
The event will feature “Voices from the ASEAN+3 Region,” a student-led initiative developed through the AJYBB Youth Co-Creation Lab 2026. Students from ASEAN countries, Japan, and China will share their perspectives and experiences related to climate change in their respective regions. Participants will also take part in an interactive role-playing workshop, exploring possible solutions to climate challenges from the perspectives of governments, international organizations, civil society, and other stakeholders.
The event will also welcome six students whose proposal was selected at the APT Youth Retreat, held in Gyeongju, the Republic of Korea, in September. Their proposal, which focused on developing a new youth programme centred on elderly care, earned them the opportunity to participate in a study trip to Japan. The group comprises international students from ASEAN countries studying at universities in the Republic of Korea and a Chinese student studying at a university in China. During their study trip, they will take part in hands-on learning activities related to elderly care in Kyoto. At this event, they will share their experiences and reflections, which may also inspire discussions on how to build climate-resilient communities that support older people.
The event offers an opportunity for young people from different countries and backgrounds to learn from one another and build connections across borders.
We look forward to welcoming you!
