The ASEAN–Japan Centre is pleased to announce the online publication of the “AJYELN 2025 Storybook: Innovative Actions, Sustainable Progress”, a collection of inspiring stories that highlight youth-led environmental initiatives across ASEAN and Japan.
The storybook features the journeys, ideas, and achievements of participants in the ASEAN–Japan Youth Environmental Leadership Network (AJYELN2.0). Through collaborative learning, mentorship, and hands-on project development, these young leaders have designed and implemented initiatives that address pressing environmental challenges in their communities.
From tackling plastic waste and promoting circular economy practices to advancing environmental education and community engagement, the projects featured in this publication demonstrate how youth leadership can drive meaningful change. Each story illustrates not only innovative solutions but also the perseverance, teamwork, and creativity that underpin successful environmental action.
The publication also includes messages of support from distinguished partners and stakeholders who continue to champion youth leadership and regional cooperation. These include H.E. San Lwin, Deputy Secretary-General of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community, Ms. Keiko Omori, Director of the Global Environment Bureau of the Ministry of the Environment, Japan, Mr. Reo Kawamura, Director of the ERIA Regional Knowledge Centre for Marine Plastic Debris, Ms. Sarah Rauzana, Chairperson of the ASEAN Youth Organization, and Ms. Yoriko Ashimine, Vice President of Climate Youth Japan.
Innovative Actions, Sustainable Progress reflects the spirit of ASEAN–Japan partnership in advancing sustainable development. By bringing together young leaders from diverse backgrounds, AJYELN fosters cross-cultural dialogue, knowledge exchange, and regional collaboration while empowering participants to translate ideas into tangible environmental impact.
We invite readers to explore the AJYELN 2025 Storybook on our website and learn more about the innovative projects and dedicated young leaders working to create positive environmental change across the ASEAN–Japan region.
