Vietnam–Japan Trade & Investment Conference 2025

Executive Summary 

The ASEAN-Japan Centre hosted the Vietnam–Japan Trade & Investment Conference 2025 on May 30, 2025, in Tokyo, bringing together over 100 participants from the government and private sectors of both countries. The event aimed to promote bilateral trade and investment cooperation, with a strong focus on green, eco-friendly, and nationally branded products from Viet  Nam. 

The conference was part of a larger investment promotion mission from Viet Nam to Japan, led by VIETRADE. The mission also included site visits to Japanese companies and participation in the Vietnam National Branding Week at the EXPO2025 OSAKA.  

Objectives 

  • Promote Viet Nam’s high-potential sectors to Japanese partners 
  • Facilitate B2B connections between Vietnamese and Japanese businesses 
  • Highlight key sectors for Japan–Viet Nam cooperation, including processed foods, aquaculture, green agriculture, furniture, machinery, and supporting industries

Viet Nam–Japan Trade & Investment Conference (May 30, AJC Hall) 

  • Opening Remarks 
    Mr. Kunihiko Hirabayashi, Secretary General, AJC 
    → Emphasized Viet Nam’s strategic role in the global supply chain and commitment to green transformation. 
  • Remarks by VIETRADE 
    Mr. Bui Quang Hung, Deputy Director General 
    → Highlighted Viet Nam as a rising manufacturing hub, supported by FTAs and innovation. 
  • Market Presentation 
    Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, VIETRADE 
    → Shared updates on Viet Nam’s investment policies and green development priorities. 
  • Product Showcase 
    Nationally branded products from Viet Nam were presented in categories such as seafood, cosmetics, mechanical parts, and spices. 
  • Business Matching 
    Over 200 B2B sessions were held. Initial economic interest emerged for companies including Bien Quynh JSC, Sang Xanh Co., and Tien Anh Manufacturing. 

Site Visits (May 29–30) 

  • KMF Co., Ltd., Saitama 
    → Vietnamese businesses explored opportunities in contract manufacturing and technology collaboration. 
  • AEON Group / Japan Retail Association 
    → Agricultural exporters learned about packaging, standards, and consumer trends in the Japanese market. 
  • Zenkoukai Elderly Care Facility, Tokyo 
    → A delegation from Ha Tinh province studied care models and technologies for potential investment in Viet Nam. 

Participation in Vietnam National Branding Week (May 26, Osaka Expo) 

AJC Secretary General attended the opening ceremony of the Viet Nam Pavilion at the EXPO2025 OSAKA, demonstrating support for Viet Nam’s national branding efforts. 

Outcomes

  • Business Development: Over 200 business matching sessions led to initial commercial interest in food and green products. 
  • Knowledge Exchange: Participants gained practical insights into Japan’s quality standards, retail systems, and care industry.Shape

Follow-up Actions 

  • Support follow-up communication between Vietnamese exporters and Japanese buyers 
  • Provide capacity-building for Vietnamese SMEs on packaging, branding, and sustainability 
  • Document success stories and share with stakeholders

  • Viet Nam offers competitive strengths in sustainable agriculture, processed foods, and young talent. 
  • Japanese companies value Viet Nam’s reliability, productivity, and improving product quality. 
  • Strategic sectors for collaboration include food, elderly care, smart machinery, and retail.
