The Philippines ranks as the third-largest contributor to marine plastic waste globally, with approximately 350,000 tons entering the ocean annually. Specifically, marine plastic pollution in Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape (SBPS) ecologically connected from Buayan-Malungon River Basin (BMRB) severely impacts local communities and the broader Philippine society. Thus, we look forward to increase the number of environmental stewards aware of the the Ridge to Reef problems. Our solution, “Project Dugong”, focuses on education, leadership, and capacity-building in which youth will learn to analyze the environmental problems and create practical solutions. We are looking forward that this project will bring so much impact– turning ideas into projects, solutions into resolutions.
