Annual Work Program

Work Program (FY2018)

1) Workshop on Sustainable Tourism: Agritourism

The Centre invites management-level stakeholders from the ASEAN Member States to Japan to learn about Japanese overseas travel market and agritourism.

2) Theme-based Tourism Promotion

Seminars and events on timely topics will be organized to promote tourism between the ASEAN Member States and Japan.

3) CLMV Tourism Promotion

With an aim to promote Mekong region tourism, the Centre will organize tourism promotion seminars in Myanmar and Vietnam jointly with respective National Tourism Organizations (NTOs). The latest trend of the Japanese overseas travel market as well as information on MRA-TP (Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals) will be introduced during the seminars.

4) Training Program on Interpretation

The Centre conducts a training program in Japan for managers of national / natural parks in the ASEAN Member States and NTOs. Through lectures on Japan’s approach to ecotourism, how national parks are managed and the latest outbound travel market of Japan, program participants will learn sustainable tourism promotion as well as how to design useful interpretation service to visitors.

A follow-up activity of the program will be organized at site/s in CLMV (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam).

5) ASEAN Tourism Award (tentative name)

After organizing the Mekong Tourism Award for three years to award excellent tour products to CLMV, the Centre will expand the award to all the ten ASEAN Member States in FY2018 to further encourage development of diversified and unique ASEAN tour products.

6) Tourism P.R. Activities

The PR activities include participation in major tourism or international events, and organizing tourism promotion events/seminars at the ASEAN-Japan Hall. In addition, the Centre strengthens its networks with ASEAN tourism partners by participating in ASEAN Tourism Forum and other relevant meetings.

7) Tourism Information Services

The Centre distributes maps and brochures, and provides information through website, online newsletters and SNS. Online Photo Library will be improved by adding new photos.
