The Centre participated in JATA Tourism Forum & Travel Showcase 2011 from September 30 – October 2, 2011 at Tokyo Big Sight. The event is one of the largest Tourism Exhibition in Asia participated by over 144 countries and regions which attracted 117,236 visitors during the 3-day travel showcase. Tourism & Exchange Division set up ASEAN booth in particular to promote BIMP(Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines) – East ASEAN Growth Area. The catchphrase “Equator Asia” was used to describe the region, which is rich in natural and cultural tourism resources. Special on-stage presentations were also made by Japanese students for the travel industry on proposals how to enhance tourist traffic from Japan to BIMP-EAGA. The students had visited BIMP-EAGA in June and July 2011 under Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) program.
