Report: “Promoting ASEAN Tourism Contest” winners announced

ASEAN-Japan Centre held “Promoting ASEAN Tourism Contest” with the Japan Student Tourism Association (JSTA) as part of a project to promote youth outbound travel. The contest called for ideas from students on how to promote Brunei Darussalam, Singapore and/or Thailand as travel destinations to make young people of the same generation want to visit those countries.

The below winning proposals were selected on Saturday, 9 November 2019, based on the final screening which included presentations of applicants who passed the primary screening and question & answer session.

  • Brunei Darussalam Brunei Study Tour – Experience published in a book!?
  • Singapore  That Instagram-worthy picture, how much does it cost?
  • Thailand  Photogenic Thailand using “Tik Tok” and “Instagram”

 

One of the juries commented, “it was difficult to select the winners as all the proposals were thought-provoking”.  The winners will travel to their destinations using the air-tickets they received as the prize and will implement the plans that they have proposed. Next year, there will be an occasion to present their findings and results of their implementation.

ASEAN-Japan Centre will continue to conduct activities to promote ASEAN Member States to the younger generation.
