<Report>Follow-up Activity for the Exchange Program for Tourism Professionals- ASEAN-Japan Tourist Guides Exchange Program

With the kind support from the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism of Myanmar, the Tourism and Exchange Division invited tourism-related stakeholders in Bagan and Mandalay regions in Myanmar to the Workshop for Tourist Guides. The workshop was particularly targeted at tourist guides to discuss the challenges and opportunities for tourist guides, contribution of guides to sustainable tourism, and competencies of guides. It was the Follow-up Activity of the Exchange Program for Tourism Professionals- ASEAN-Japan Tourist Guides Exchange Program in 2016 in Japan.

Participants: 80 people (Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, municipalities, Mandalay Tourist Guide Society, Bagan Tourist Guide Association, ASEAN Cultural Heritage Trail, and regional hotels and resorts)

2. The experience and learning in the Tourist Guides Exchange Program in Japan

1. Challenges and difficulties in the tourist guide profession, gaps between the supply of and demand for tour guiding, and competencies of skilled guides.
