<Report>The Training Program on Interpretation in Japan
The ASEAN-Japan Centre invited site managers of national parks/natural heritage sites and officers from national tourism office and natural resource management offices from 8 ASEAN Member States to participate in the training program on interpretation in Japan. After receiving lectures in Tokyo, the participants moved to Fujinomiya city in Shizuoka, which is a city located at the foothills of Mt. Fuji inscribed as a World Heritage site. The program included inspections of community-based ecotours that incorporate the interpretation method, lectures by the experts and the city’s Tourism Division that explained the importance of the partnership of the public and the private sectors in developing a responsible local tourism. <Report> ASEAN-Japan Centre(AJC)participated in Tourism EXPO Japan 2018
Tourism EXPO Japan is the biggest travel fair in Japan, participated in by 136 countries and regions from around the world including prefectures of Japan, as well as 1,441 companies and organizations from tourism industry.   AJC promoted ASEAN Member States as travel destinations by distributing information materials and setting up “ASEAN Quiz”board from which the visitors would access  various information on ASEAN countries.   During the EXPO, tourism promotion seminars for students were organized by Japan Student Tourism Association. Secretary General Fujita had a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC)
On September 26, Mr. Masataka Fujita, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC) had a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC). SG Fujita expressed his appreciation to SG Chen for the invitation to “2018 ASEAN “the Belt and Road” Tourism Culture Exchange Week” in Guiyang.  Secretaries General of two centres agreed to continue strengthening their relationship in the context of ASEAN+3. They also discussed the promotions of increasing the tourist traffic among ASEAN+3, and sought the possibility of joint programs on the topic of the global value chain (GVC) in the East Asia.

Mr. Masataka Fujita, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC) attended the “2018 ASEAN “the Belt and Road” Tourism Culture Exchange Week” in Guiyang, China co-hosted by the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) and the Guizhou Provincial People’s Government. The event aimed to create the brand of tourism association between ASEAN and western China, and to build a new mechanism and better bridge for the exchange and cooperation between ASEAN and Guizhou. Seminar “The Industrial Revolution 4.0: Importance of Technology and Innovation in Tourism” in Hanoi
ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC) organized a seminar on “The Industrial Revolution 4.0: Importance of Technology and Innovation in Tourism” in Hanoi, Vietnam on September 4, 2018. The seminar was co-organized with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT). The AJC had dispatched two experts from Japan to deliver presentations at the seminar. Mr. Koji Tsurumoto, CEO of Marketing Voice Ltd. shared the information on trends in Japanese people’s overseas travel as well as the digital tourism. <Report> Isan music and Laos Travel
The ASEAN-Japan Centre organized an event titled “Isan music and Laos Travel”. In the first half of the event, Mr. Iwama, a photographer, shared some episodes from his recent trip in Laos and introduced local information by his photo-based presentation. In the latter half of the event, Mr. Utsuki and Takagi, DJ unit Soi48, talked about the history of Isan music and how it has developed to be in the modern market while they introduced the audio source (vinyl) they collected in Isan, Thailand.
