The ASEAN-Japan Centre (Centre) is pleased to report the successful completion of a Webinar on “the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren)’s Recommendations on Japan-ASEAN Relations in the New Era.” This webinar was co-organized with Keidanren in commemoration of the establishment of the Subcommittee on ASEAN Economic Relations within the Committee on Asia and Oceania at Keidanren. This webinar was held on 30 August 2021 and received about 180 participants from ASEAN government entities as well as the Japanese private sector.
In this webinar, Mr. Hideyuki Tanaka, the Chair of the Subcommittee and Managing Executive Officer of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company, Limited, presented Keidanren’s proposed recommendations and elaborated on potential actions envisioned for further enhancing linkages between Japanese business sector and ASEAN. In the Q&A Session, Mr. Tanaka provided his responses to the pre-registered questions, including issues relating to the disaster resiliency, the pandemic responses of Japanese businesses and the carbon neutrality.
In a collaboration framework arrangement between the Centre and Keidanren, the Centre will assist Keidanren in promoting its committed proposition, as emphasized in its policy paper, for “Japanese business sector to strengthen cooperation with ASEAN to co-create new values toward the realization of a sustainable society and work together to open up a new era”.
