Mr. Masataka Fujita, Secretary General of the AJC, participated in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Forum held in Osaka, Japan on June 1, 2016. The Forum was organized by the AJC in association with Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kansai Economic Federation, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO, Osaka) and Consulate-General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Osaka, seizing the moment of visit to Osaka by H.E. Le Luong Minh, Secretary-General of ASEAN.
During the Forum, SG Fujita made a summary of two speakers’ presentations, with a particular emphasis on the current situations and future prospects of the ASEAN-Japan economic relations. This followed the keynote speech by H.E. Le Luong Minh, in which His Excellency elaborated on the AEC as well as business opportunities in the ASEAN region for the Japanese companies, and a presentation on the Japanese companies’ expectations for the AEC and its implications on the Japanese economy and corporate management by Mr. Ryo Ikebe, Director of Asia and Oceania Division, Overseas Research Department, JETRO. The forum served as a prime opportunity for the participants to gain the first hand information on the AEC, which is drawing the world’s attention for the rapidly growing market of the ASEAN region.
After the Forum, SG Fujita participated in the reception hosted by the Consulate-General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in honour of H.E. Le Luong Minh, where he tightened the relationship with local business community.
