Tourism Activities

The ASEAN-Japan Centre is the only international organization in Japan that implements, in conjunction with the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta and ASEAN National Tourism Organization, the Visit ASEAN Campaign to promote ASEAN as a single travel destination, Asia’s Perfect 10 Paradise. The Centre has actively undertaken various activities to enhance ASEAN tourism through the ASEAN Tourism Fair and media promotion. Additionally, organization of tourism seminars and other diversified approaches are being implemented to highlight tourism potential in the ASEAN region.

As the tourism industry in ASEAN is of great importance and represents approximately 10% of ASEAN’s GDP, the Centre has been vigorously promoting and developing ASEAN’s potential tourism resources to the Japanese market. Furthermore, to narrow intra-ASEAN economic gaps, the Centre successfully conducted tourism programs in the Greater Mekong Sub-Region(GMS) and the East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA), which contributed to tourism promotion and awareness in the region.

The Centre will continue to undertake some recovery programs to enhance the image of ASEAN tourism destinations in cooperation with regional authorities, the government of ASEAN countries, universities, and the travel trade sector.
