The Second Seminar on “How to welcome Muslim tourists from ASEAN”

Following the first seminar in last November, the Centre organized the “the Second Seminar on How to Welcome Muslim Tourists from ASEAN”, to enhance inbound tourism to Japan. Approximately 70 participants from the tourism and government sectors have attended.

The Secretary General of ASEAN-Japan Centre and Mr. Kashiwagi, International Tourism Policy Division, Japan Tourism Agency delivered opening remarks. Then Tourism and Exchange division announced the launch of a digital pamphlet, titled “How to Invite Muslim Tourists from ASEAN” which introduces basic information of Muslims customs, as one of the projects to commemorate the 40th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation.

Also, three pioneers and experts from Muslim business in Japan were invited for a panel discussion. Panelists addressed to questions submitted beforehand, and participants commented that it was a very useful and informative discussion. 

After all the programs, Halal snacks were served, while panelists and participants shared their thoughts and opinions.

The Centre will continue to conduct similar seminars in various Japanese localities, using the digital pamphlet as a trigger to increase momentum toward Muslim inbound activities, as well as to improve the local hospitality to Muslim tourists from ASEAN.
