Follow-up Tourism Seminar in BIMP-EAGA (Part 2)
As the final seminar of a series of seminars in
BIMP-EAGA's* Makassar (Indonesia), Bandar Seri Begawan (Brunei Darussalam), and Kota Kinabalu (Malaysia) in February, a seminar was organized in the Philippines as follows:
March 8, 2011, Davao; 42 participants
The Seminar was a follow-up activity to the Workshop which had been conducted in November 2010 in Tokyo and Karuizawa, by inviting manager-level tourism stakeholders from the government and private sectors in BIMP-EAGA.
Mr. Kusube, Executive Director of Japan Ecotourism Society, delivered presentation on ecotourism in Japan, while the Workshop participants reported on their experiences in Japan. A local tourism expert also updated the audience on the local ecotourism situation, followed by a panel discussion. What was remarkable was that so many questions were raised by participants and the Q&A session continued for more than an hour.
The Seminars in the respective cities provided opportunity for the participants to share a notion that it was important to foster unique natural heritage of each region by cooperating with local stakeholders, and to utilize it as an attractive tourism resource.
