<Report> Lao Food Seminar “Natural Blessings from Forest and River”


Tourism & Exchange Division organized the Lao Food Seminar “Natural Blessings from Forest and River” to commemorate Visit Laos Year of 2018. 

図1Ms. Miyuki Shimamoto, a Food Coordinator and a published author of several books on Laos and other ASEAN destinations, shared some images and her experiences in Laos, especially in Luang Prabang to talk about its tourism attractions.






図2Mr. Taku Mori, the other speaker who promotes Lao related media production after having lived in Laos for 15 years, spoke about the development of Lao food culture and its cooking method based on the historical and geographic background. 






図4The participants enjoyed the rare occasion of the authentic Lao food tasting, which was prepared with the cooperation of the Laos Embassy in Tokyo.  The guest mcee, Ms. Masami Kanazawa who grew up in Singapore moderated the cross talk session with the two speakers and they all shared their own experiences and impressions of their visit to Laos. 





図3The representative of Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos in Tokyo briefed about the Visit Laos Year 2018, and events to be organized in different localities.  Most of the participants (92% of respondent) gave positive reviews that they gained more knowledge about Lao food culture.
