Organization

The ASEAN-Japan Centre operates under the guidance of its Council, Executive Board and Secretariat. The COUNCIL consists of eleven Directors, appointed by, and representing, each member government of the ASEAN-Japan Centre. It is the supreme policy-making body of the organization, and exercises the powers and functions such as the approval of the Annual Work Program and Budget and the appointment of the Secretary General. The Council generally meets once a year around December to February in Tokyo. A chairperson is elected on a yearly basis at the annual meeting for the following year.

The EXECUTIVE BOARD supervises and gives advice to the Secretariat on implementing policies and directions given by the Council. It generally meets two or three times a year on a regular basis either in Tokyo or in an ASEAN member country.
The SECRETARIAT is headed by the Secretary General and consists of the Planning & Coordination, Trade Division, Investment Division and Tourism & Exchange Division. The Secretary General represents the Centre and is responsible to the Council.
